Quiet Revival
LIGHTED PATH DEVOTIONAL
Monday, 8th June, 2026
Memory Verse:
“All the believers devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching, and to fellowship, and to sharing in meals (including the Lord’s Supper), and to prayer.” Acts 2:42 (NLT)
Reflection:
A young believer once asked his pastor why we do not seem to witness the kind of revivals recorded in the Bible and church history.
He was expecting an answer about crusades, conferences, and large gatherings.
Instead, the pastor asked him a simple question.
“When was the last time you sat with a few believers to study the Bible deeply, pray fervently, encourage one another, and reach out to others together?”
The young man was silent.
The truth is that many of us associate revival with crowds.
God often begins with community.
I know a Christian group that understands this remarkably well.
They gather regularly, not for entertainment but for serious Bible study. They pray together, disciple one another, plan strategic evangelism, share meals joyfully, support struggling members, and look for opportunities to help the needy.
Whenever I observe them, I am reminded of the early church.
There were no sophisticated sound systems.
No social media campaigns.
No celebrity ministers.
Yet their impact shook cities.
Why?
Because they were deeply committed to God and genuinely committed to one another.
Acts 2:42 reveals the secret.
They devoted themselves to sound teaching.
They devoted themselves to fellowship.
They devoted themselves to prayer.
They devoted themselves to sharing life together.
Revival was not merely an event they attended.
It became a lifestyle they lived.
Perhaps one reason many believers feel spiritually dry today is because we have substituted spiritual gatherings with spiritual consumption.
We listen to sermons but rarely discuss them.
We attend programmes but avoid discipleship.
We follow ministries online but neglect meaningful fellowship.
The early believers did not simply gather to hear God’s Word.
They gathered to live it.
The next great revival may not begin in a stadium.
It may begin around a dining table.
In a small Bible study.
In a prayer meeting.
In a discipleship group.
In a handful of believers who decide that following Christ is too important to do alone.
Scriptural Insights:
• Acts 2:42 — Revival thrives where believers devote themselves to teaching, fellowship, prayer, and community.
• Hebrews 10:24-25 — Christians are called to encourage one another regularly.
• Matthew 28:19-20 — Discipleship is central to the Christian mission.
• Acts 2:46-47 — Joyful fellowship and outreach helped the early church grow.
Application:
Join or build a small community of believers committed to studying Scripture, praying together, encouraging one another, and reaching others with the Gospel.
Prayer:
Lord, revive my heart and revive Your church. Help us move beyond spectatorship into genuine fellowship, discipleship, prayer, and service. May our gatherings reflect the beauty and power of the early church. Amen.
Deeper Thought:
Many people are waiting for revival to fill a stadium. God may be waiting for believers to fill a living room.

Nice post on devotion.
I’ve questioned it a lot myself.
Why is worship dying?
Well, think about what’s offered…
A group of people studying life applications of morals, ethics and applying guilt while singing songs to an invisible entity (which insists no other invisible entities exist….) Or… checking out their cellphone and working on their resume.
People used to worry more about the afterlife. That’s because the life expectancy was 39 and the only way to gain eternal happiness was to tell all your dirty secrets to the church.
Nice racket, huh? Now you wanna know why Faith has been lost?
Faith is an act. A verb.
To act, you need belief first.
People don’t even believe in morals or ethics or philosophy anymore, let alone religion.
You’d have better luck arranging a D&D game in your garage these days, or a fantasy football league. 🤷♂️ Truth.
